Alexander Ovechkin
Alexander Ovechkin was born in 1985, Russian, and one of the best right wingers to ever play hockey. Like most successful hockey players he started playing hockey at the age of two. Most professional hockey players lear to skate before they can walk! Which is one aspect to demonstrate the need of devotion and pretty much knowing that is what you want to do for the rest of your life at a young age. Both Ovechkin's parents were professional athletes. His mother was a professional Basketball player winning two Olympic Gold Metals. His father played pro soccer.
Ovechkin's idol (ironically) was Mario Lemieux: Captain and legend out of The Pittsburgh Penguins; Washington Capitals rival. Alexander Ovechkin was inspired by the 1990 Stanley Cup run from the Penguins. Practically saying Hockey has been Ovechkin's whole entire life all lead up to play against his childhood team. Which isn't odd for most players it's hard to be drafted into the NHL let alone to be drafted by their preferred team. Ovechkin was drafted second overall by the Washington Capitals but second only to The Pittsburgh Penguins (most likely Ovechkin's dream team).
Every NHL star has a breakthrough "Ovi's" came after the 2004-2005 season because there had been a lock-out season that year, so Alex had to wait. He became a Legend during his rookie season against the Phoenix Coyotes while scoring on his back during a break-away: your normally not on your back while skating. This goal being so impressive could be argued to be one of his best goals so far, but that was just his awakening. Alexander's rookie season he racked up 54 goals and 54 assists (106 points!)
Alex Ovechkin is one of my favorite players because of his constant, reliable, offensive explosiveness. No fan of hockey except maybe a Penguins fan can truthfully say he is anything but breath-taking offensively.
